Welcome
Safe2Scan is pleased to offer breast thermography, a breast health monitoring service
which is empowering women to live long, healthy lives.
Nelson offers a culture of vitality and longevity a culture where people welcome
the idea of proactively monitoring their health. Breast thermography is a breast
cancer risk assessment tool that can provide women with an early warning of potential
problems, and with that an opportunity to look at lifestyle factors that can can
reduce the risk of a problem developing further.

Inexpensive and cost-effective interventions can prevent 80% of heart disease, stroke,
type 2 diabetes and
40% of cancers. There is strong scientific evidence
supporting the fact that a healthy diet, sufficient physical activity and smoking
cessation are key elements in disease and risk factor prevention.
Assessing breast health using thermography can offer valuable information regarding
abnormal breast tissue activity, that if caught early enough, can often be reversed
through simple lifestyle changes.
Thermography employs an infrared camera and custom software to measure the body's
thermal signature. Temperature imbalances may indicate increased blood vessel and
cell activity, which can be an indicator of precancerous or cancerous conditions,
infection or inflammation.
Thermography is particularly applicable for monitoring breast health, as it enables
thermal changes to breast health to be detected very early on, often before a detectable
lump forms. A number of researchers have noted that a persistently abnormal thermogram
is often the first sign of an increased risk for breast cancer.
Thermography is a non-invasive, non-contact procedure, which is safe and painless.
Whilst not replacing mammography screening, breast thermography complements other
testing through providing information about the activity (physiology) of the breast
tissue, as seen through thermal changes. Safe2Scan is also a valuable tool for young,
premenopausal women and those with dense breast tissue.
